Meng Xiaofeng is a full professor at School of Information, Renmin University of China. He received a B.S. degree from Hebei University, M.S. degree from Renmin University of China , Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, all in computer science. He is currently the Vice Dean of School of Information, Renmin University of China. He is the Secretary General of Database Technique Committee of the China Computer Federation (CCF DBTC), which is the largest national academic organization in China established in 1977. He has held visiting research position at the Chinese University of Hong Kong( 1994, 1995,1998), City University of Hong Kong (1997), visiting scientist at the National University of Singapore (2003), and visiting professor at Prism Lab of Versailles University, Paris(2004).

His research interests include Web data management, Cloud data management, mobile data management, XML data management, Flash-aware DBMS, privacy protection. He has published over 100 papers in refereed international journals and conference proceedings including IEEE TKDE, Geoinformatic, Science in China Series, VLDB, SIGMOD, ICDE, EDBT, ACM GIS etc.. He co-authored the monograph "Moving Objects Management: Models, Techniques, and Applications" published by Springer and Tsinghua Press, and co-translated the books “Transaction Proceedings: Concepts and Techniques” (by Jim Gray, Andreas Reuter) , “Data Mining: Concepts and Techniques” (by Jiawei Han), “Database Tuning: Principles, Experiments, and Troubleshooting” (by Dennis Shasha).

He has served on the program committee SIGMOM, ICDE, CIKM, MDM, DASFAA etc.. and editorial board of Journal of Computer Science and Technology(JCST), Frontiers of Computer Science in China(FCS), Journal of Computer Research and Development(CRAD), etc.. He was the General Vice Chair for 25th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE2009), DB Vice Chair for ACM 18th Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM2009), Program Chair for The Ninth International Conference on Mobile Data management (MDM2008), Sponsor Chair for ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data (SIGMOD2007), Publicity Chair for ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data (SIGMOD2006), and Publication Chair for The 10th International Conference on Database Systems for Advanced Applications (DASFAA 2005) , Program Chair for the First SIGMOD Phd Workshop on Innovative Database Research(IDAR2007) and First International Workshop on Cloud Data Management(CloudDB2009) . Now he is the steering committee member of WAIM, MDM, SIGMOD IDAR.
