Big Data Analysis
With the emergence of Big Data, it does not only bring the rapid growth of data size, but also brings a great challenge to the traditional data management and analysis technology. Traditional data management and analysis techniques, based on relational databases, have become increasingly difficult to meet the demand of practical applications. 《Nature》points out that the need for big data to analyze and exploit the underlying value behind it has been urgent. We study real-time analysis of Big Data as the starting point, mainly from the data characteristics, analysis platform and the real case, including streaming data, in-memory computing and scientific data analysis, etc. For stream data, we mainly study the efficient data operation and resource allocation. The in-memory computation mainly focuses on the computational acceleration by optimizing the computer architecture layer. The multi-source astronomical data stream is used to study the real-time analysis of scientific events that occur by a small probability, and the storage of large-scale historical data, etc.

Big Data Privacy
With the high-speed development of information and network, big data has become a hot topic in both the academic and industrial research, which is regarded as a new revolution in the field of Information Technology. However, it brings about not only significant economic and social benefits, but also great risks and challenges on individuals’privacy protection and data security. Directly releasing and analyzing such data may breach individuals’ privacy. Currently, privacy related with big data has been considered as one of the greatest problems in many applications.

The rapid development of World Wide Web has dramatically changed the way in which information is managed and accessed. The information in Web is increasing at a striking speed. At present, there are more than 7,500 terabytes (or 550 billion web pages) of information in Web. Web information has covered all domains of human activities. This opened the opportunity for users to benefit from the available data. So Web is being concerned more and more. This brings the following projects:

Social Computing
The development and popularization of information technology and Internet had a profound impact on people's social interaction model, and also brought a great change in computing technology. The research of information science and technology pays attention to specific technical issues in the past , but now takes advantage of computing methods to simulate and analyze social theory and social issues on a higher level, which is a cross research between computing science and social science . In recent years, with the rapid rise and development, social computing receives great attention from domestic or foreign computer science and related interdisciplinary areas. At the same time, in order to effectively deal with new social problems and challenges caused by complex and dynamic changes in the network, we need to develop the basic theory, modeling, analysis and calculation methods of social computing urgently.
